Terms of Service

The deal between us, in plain English.

Last updated: 16 July 2026

These terms govern your use of wattmatters.co.in and the Watt Matters service, operated by Deepam Enterprises (“Watt Matters”, “we”, “us”). By using the site, creating an account, or paying for an assessment, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] before you proceed — we’d rather explain than surprise you.

What Watt Matters is (and isn’t)

Watt Matters is an independent solar advisory service. We help owners of independent houses in India decide whether rooftop solar and battery backup make sense for their home, size the system honestly, and — if they choose — connect them with vetted installers who quote against our assessment.

  • We are not an installer. We do not sell, supply, or install solar equipment.
  • We are not a lead-selling marketplace. Your contact details are never sold, and stay masked from installers until you choose to engage one.
  • Your installation contract is with the installer, not with us. We vet installers, standardise their quotes, and help mediate issues, but the supply and installation agreement — including its warranties — is between you and the installer you select.

Estimates are estimates

Calculator results, assessment reports, savings projections, payback periods, and subsidy figures are good-faith estimates based on the information you give us plus public data (solar irradiance, DISCOM tariffs, the PM Surya Ghar subsidy rules as published). They are not guarantees. Actual generation, savings, and subsidy amounts depend on your roof, your usage, tariff changes, equipment, weather, and government decisions we don’t control. Subsidy approval and disbursement is entirely the government’s decision.

The ₹99 assessment

The ₹99 fee, paid when you book, buys a professional site assessment by a Watt Matters assessor and the resulting report — which is yours to keep, whichever installer you choose (or none). The price is all-inclusive: GST and payment processing are built in, and nothing is added at checkout. It is a fee for a real service, not a deposit toward equipment, and it is not refundable once the booking is made — except in the specific situations set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If plans change, you get one free reschedule.

Accounts

  • You must be 18 or older and provide accurate information.
  • You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe; anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
  • One account per person. We may suspend accounts used fraudulently, abusively, or to scrape or resell our data.

For installers

  • Installer partnership is by application and vetting; we may accept or decline at our discretion, and remove installers who fall below our standards.
  • Subscriptions (Starter ₹999/month, Pro ₹2,499/month) are billed monthly in advance via Razorpay and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancellation and refund rules are in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
  • Customer contact details shared with you may only be used to serve that customer’s Watt Matters enquiry — never for unrelated marketing, resale, or off-platform solicitation of Watt Matters customers. Breach means removal from the platform.

Payments

Payments are processed by Razorpay, a licensed payment aggregator. We never see or store your card, UPI, or banking credentials. Prices shown are in Indian Rupees and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. If a payment is charged but the service isn’t delivered (for example, a duplicate charge), we refund it — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Our content

The site, calculator, reports, articles, and brand are ours (or licensed to us). You may use reports and results for your own home’s decision-making, and share them with family or your installer. You may not scrape the site, republish our content commercially, or use our data to build a competing service.

Limitation of liability

We stand behind the honesty and care of our advice, but to the extent permitted by Indian law: we are not liable for the acts or omissions of installers (your contract is with them), for government subsidy decisions, for losses caused by inaccurate information you provided, or for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you for any claim is capped at the amount you paid Watt Matters in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including for fraud.

Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If something goes wrong, email us first — almost everything is fixable in a conversation. Failing that, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi, India.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we’ll email everyone with an account at least 14 days before it takes effect. Trivial edits (typos, clarifications) we update in place with a new “last updated” date.
